| I am new to war gaming and have just bought Command and Colours: Ancients. I am unclear about the rules for battling back. All the examples in the rules are for equal strength units - what are the rules for battling back if you are the weaker (say light infantry) unit. As light infantry battling back against heavy cavalry, do you use heavy cav. dice? |

hubear,
When battling back you the attack dice amount of the unit that is battling back. In your example, a light infantry battling back would use 2d against the HC. As another example, if the HC were responding(battling back) after an attack from the light infantry, it would use the 4d it usually attacks with.
edit - chariots do have a different 'defense' die roll - see the chart. |
